THE TIME OF YOUR LIFE-an interesting 1948 James Carney Movie

THE TIME OF YOUR LIFE is an interesting Movie that could easily be turned into a Play. All of the Movie takes place in a Bar and the characters that show up in this Bar each have a past. But how many times in a Bar have you been looked at by that somebody who you’re really happy when they leave. But each character feds off the other and it’s very interesting to Watch. So if you enjoy James Carney Movies, you will enjoy this one.

But this Movie is a Family Affair! James Cagney’s sister, Jeanne Cagney, is in it and the Movie was produced by his Brither-William Cagney.

Wealthy idler Joe (James Cagney) doesn’t need to work, so he spends his days holding court in Nick’s Pacific Street Saloon. Among the regulars are Joe’s oafish sidekick (Wayne Morris), a washed-up burlesque dancer (Jeanne Cagney), a hapless beat cop (Broderick Crawford) and Nick himself (William Bendix) behind the bar. Rarely do they get up to anything more than drink and discuss the many vagaries of their lives, but Joe does his best to encourage the dreamer in each of them.
