“Afib”-do certain things Cause it?

First off, I’m not a Doctor or a person with any medical Degrees. But I know what caused my own A-Fib. Yes, I do. Here’s a little something about it-

Caffeine, nicotine and other stimulants can cause your heart to beat faster and may contribute to the development of more-serious arrhythmias. Illegal drugs, such as amphetamines and cocaine, may profoundly affect the heart and lead to many types of arrhythmias or to sudden death due to ventricular fibrillation.Aug 9, 2020

  • Atrial fibrillation. Atrial fibrillation is a rapid heart rate caused by chaotic electrical impulses in the atria. These signals result in rapid, uncoordinated, weak contractions of the atria. The chaotic electrical signals bombard the AV node, usually resulting in an irregular, rapid rhythm of the ventricles. Atrial fibrillation may be temporary, but some episodes won’t end unless treated.Atrial fibrillation is associated with serious complications such as stroke.
  • Atrial flutter. Atrial flutter is similar to atrial fibrillation. The heartbeats in atrial flutter are more-organized and more-rhythmic electrical impulses than in atrial fibrillation. Atrial flutter may also lead to serious complications such as stroke.

And that came from-

But I drank lots of Coffee and Tea and Sodas. Mountain Dew had the highest amounts. But my 1st Time finding out I had Afib was at the Doctor’s Office on a regular Visit.

There wasn’t any advice to see a Cardiologist which I still find strange. But then one night I woke-up while constantly gasping for air. I felt like I couldn’t get any air in my body. And my heart rate was higher than all get-out.

I went to the EMERGENCY ROOM and was put on an IV and put in a Room. I was given an IV Drip of Amiodarone. And they hit my heart with an electric Shock.

Now, I take BP Meds (Two), Amiodarone (twice a day), and Eliquis (twice a day)

Potassium channel blockers, which slow the electrical signals that cause AFib:

And after three years, I found out that I absolutely CANNOT drink COFFEE or TEA or I’ll get Afib. Even decaffeinated Coffees and Tea still give me Afib.

So now, I drink a Diet Dr. Pepper twice a day and that’s my extent of in taking caffeine knowingly. This Soda Drink doesn’t give me Afib. Don’t ask me WHY? I also slip in a Coca-Cola once in a while and I don’t get Afib. But Coffee and Tea I found out to be mighty Risky.

But this is my own individual results. I see a Cardiologist once a year.
